Ingredients & Formulation

Why we have kept using fullerene.

Every season, sensational new ingredients appear. Words like "revolutionary" and "discovery of the century" come with them.

And they disappear just as quickly.

True breakthroughs do not happen often

I have been making cosmetics for over 15 years. In that time, I have watched many trends come and go. The pattern repeats. The flip side of this is that something was called an incredible ingredient — and then had no effect.

A genuine breakthrough in the chemistry or science of aging — something that overturns established understanding — does not happen frequently. It may happen once in a lifetime.

We chose fullerene not because it is trending. But because over 15 years of trying, nothing surpassed it.

What fullerene is

Fullerene is a carbon molecule (C60) shaped like a soccer ball. Its form is exceptionally stable, and it continues eliminating reactive oxygen species for extended periods. It exists throughout space — it is not a specially synthesized artificial substance.

I do not call aging care without antioxidant ingredients "aging care." It is simply moisturizer. Without addressing reactive oxygen species — the origin of aging — it cannot be called aging care.

We were the first to make fullerene at 10% in Japan

REGINA LOCUS LVXL was the first to create a product with Japan's highest concentration of fullerene at 10%. We knew about concentration dependence — higher concentration means higher effect — so we committed to the maximum concentration.

That will not change. We choose to go deeper into what we have believed for 15 years, rather than follow what is trending.
